Camping & Facilities

Hammock Camping

The main camping field can comfortably hold two large groups with recreational space between to use for activities. The site sits on the banks of the River Font, and is nestled within 10 acres of woodland.

Broadwood is 20 mile north of Newcastle upon Tyne, and just a few minutes west from the A1. Set away from the road the campsite is hidden away from distractions (including some phone signals too).

Broadwood Scout Campsite is perfect for groups wishing to enjoy traditional camping, and has enough woodland for the ever more popular hammock wild camping with a designated area by the river for up to 12 hammocks and areas for shelter building.

Camp Fire Area

We have two large concrete fire bays for traditional campfires and open cooking with logged seating around each bay. We also have half barrel fire pits that can be situated in a location to suit your requirements with grill tops available for use if cooking on the open fire, plus ash bins to safely dispose of fire ash once cooled.

Toilets

We have four off grid compost toilets (2 female and 2 male cubicles) with one of the female toilets been an accessible toilet. Between the cubicles are three hand basins which are under cover.

Our toilet and wash facility has been designed to be maintenance free for campers apart from light cleaning with our “leave as you found it rule”. We will include clear instructions within your welcome pack for you to brief your group on how to use the facility.

To the right of the toilets is a grey water drain for waste water and a fresh water tap to fill your containers
